Puerto Rico Holidays
Puerto Rico is a great island on the Caribbean Sea with a tropical climate, pristine beaches, coffee plantations, coconut palms, and a beautiful blue sea. Its capital city, San Juan, has a number of tourist attractions which blend the flavors of colonial Spain and traditional Puerto Rico.
Places to Visit
Visit Camuy Caverns, which is the third-largest cave system in the world. You wouldn’t want to miss out on the sinkholes packed with vegetation, and the trolley that takes you through the cave. The El Yunque rainforest has 240 kinds of trees, hiking trails, and waterfalls.
Visit the Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico, which houses over 20 galleries of native paintings, folk art, ceramics, photography, video art and sculpture. Puerto Rico is also the proud owner of the biggest radio telescope in the world. Then there’s Old San Juan, the traditional center of Puerto Rico, with its monuments, colonial churches, and fountains.
Festivals
Go to the Casals Festival and the Heineken Jazz festival for some traditional music performances.
Sports and Adventure
Puerto Rico has more than 20 top-notch golf courses, and also over 100 tennis courts. For outdoor enthusiasts and adventure lovers, there’s snorkeling, windsurfing, scuba diving, kayaking, sailing, biking, rock climbing, rappelling, hiking and deep-sea fishing. If you’re on the Vieques island, you can swim at night, in the midst of minute phosphorescent creatures.
Satisfy Those Taste Buds
Puerto Rico cuisine shows the influence of cuisines of Taíno, Spain, Africa, and Arawaks Amerindians. A highly popular Puerto Rican delicacy is “Mofongo.” Mofongo is mashed plantains with pork cracklings. Pork is in fact a common element of holiday cooking in Puerto Rico.!
Gear up for a Great Night Life
Salsa dancing and casino are some highlights of Puerto Rican night life. In Old San Juan, you can learn some Salsa moves from dancers in Rumba and the Nuvorican Café, two fine bars. If you’re a gambling enthusiast, have some fun playing roulette or blackjack.
The wonderful combination of beautiful locations, great food and splendid entertainment, would make your Puerto Rico holidays a memorable experience.
